Geometry Maintenance 4 Stone Sharpening Kit - Bernal Cutlery Takarazukushi House Brand 220 to 1k - Free Stone Holder

Sharpening kit designed for maintaining good geometry through thinning and bevel lowering, sometimes more important for performance than a perfect finish. As a knife is sharpened down it becomes thicker behind the edge, eventually with poor geometry it becomes more plough-like and even with a sharp edge cuts badly. This kit is designed to provide a variety of our heavier hitting stones to help you remove metal to thin and prepare for stones to refine the edge. We made this kit because we find many skimp on coarse stones and just focus on finishers.

This kit includes:

• a very coarse 220 grit Arato-kun.
• fast cutting hard Takarazukushi House Brand 400 grit stone.
• Takarazukushi House Brand 1000 grit yellow marble stone.
• a softer but also fast cutting Takarazukushi House Brand 1200 grit blue marble stone.
• Free whetstone holder (color chosen at random)

Bernal Cutlery Takarazukushi ceramic stones are made in Japan with alumina and zircon abrasive particles that are baked with ceramics creating a fused porous stone. Harder Takarazukushi stones tend to cut deeper and faster than the semi-soft stones on double bevel knives made with wear resistant steels. Semi-soft Takarazukushis stones cut wide bevels very nicely and leave shallower easier to finish scratches than the harder stones however both hard and semi-soft work on both.

Ceramic stones will not come apart with longer soaking periods (although water should be changed) resinoid stones should not be left to soak indefinitely, and both should be allowed  to  dry outside of sun and wind and not allowed to freeze wet.
