COVID Hours & Services

Oakland Location: TEMPORARILY CLOSED. This includes all shopping, pickup and sharpening services.

San Francisco Location: Open for online order pick-up, sharpening order drop-off and pick-up.

In-store shopping is not permitted at this time. We don't know when we will be able to re-open for in-store shopping. If everyone everywhere wears a mask in public and washes their hands, we may be able to open sooner. Sign-up for a Virtual Shopping Session for help picking out stuff.


THINGS TO KNOW

 

SHARPENING:
  • We are accepting Mail-in and Drop-off sharpening at our SF location only.
  • Drop off times: Wednesdays & Saturdays from 1-3pm.
  • Turnaround for orders is 2 weeks or more from drop-off depending on order volume. This is due to a close to normal volume, but only being able to staff one sharpener at a time due to distancing protocols. Please wait at least 2 weeks from drop off before contacting us about your order status. Answering the phone keeps us from sharpening knives.
  • When the work is done, you will be contacted via the information on your intake form and an invoice will be emailed for payment.
  • Once paid, orders can be picked up during the online order pickup times listed below.

We cannot offer Rush services to the public or for industry at this time. We will prioritize orders for industry folks, but we cannot do a same day turnaround.

We are offering loaner knives. Please ask for one when you drop off.

Please visit our Sharpening Services section prior to mailing-in or dropping off. Be sure to read and fill out the COVID-19 Sharpening Drop Off Form and Instructions. You could be asked to come back if you show up unprepared. We don't wanna, but we will.


Online Orders:
  • Online order pick-up times: Monday - Saturday, 10am-2pm.
    • Orders will be ready starting 24hrs after purchase.
    • Call us at (415) 355-0773 when you are outside so we can bring it out to you. Do not ring the doorbell. It scares us.
  • Orders generally take 24 hrs to be filled and are completed in the order that they are received.
  • Shipping orders that have been filled leave the shop every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.
  • Orders are shipped using USPS and generally arrive in 3-5 business days for domestic shipments and 7-10 days for international shipment. USPS is not guaranteeing any delivery timelines so neither can we.

 

When coming by, please adhere to the following:

      • Wear a mask

      • Use social distancing. Stand 6 ft apart while waiting in line.

 

We are working with limited and rotating staff to try and keep everyone employed. We are working diligently to process all orders as efficiently and accurately as we can, but some processes are taking longer than usual under these unusual circumstances.
