Blade was first drop-forged and then hand-forged on a martinet to draw out the tang and the blade. Knives with this integral bolster and ferrule with a feathered-tang are a post-WW2 style. They were hand-ground in the old Thiers tradition on a water wheel and have a nice combination of a robust heel with a fine tip half of the blade.
Thiers, France at the Aine & Perrier Sabatier works. Aine & Perrier Sabatier (aka K Sabatier) has remained a family run business since its inception in the 1830's. The registered K trademark was recorded in 1834, making them arguably the oldest of the many Sabatier companies.
