Hand-forged Iwasaki kamisori razor made in Sanjo Niigata by Ryoichi Mizuoshi; the apprentice and successor to famous smith, Shigeyoshi Iwasaki.  Iwasaki-san has now retired, but lives next to the forge and workshop. Iwaskaki blades are famous the fine grained carbon steel which gives an excellent shave when sharpened properly on Japanese stones.  There are many that say Iwasaki razors are the best in Japan.

Shigeyoshi Iwasaki is the son of Kosuke Iwasaki, who pioneered the research into traditional forging techniques on antique katana to better understand old Japanese metallurgy. Many smiths in Niigata are heavily influenced by the Iwasaki school of forging.  They are famous for the fine grain, easy sharpening, and long lived edges.
