1891-approx 1920's J A Henckels English style 8" carving knife. Blade is hand-forged carbon steel with steel ferruled European walnut handle. 13 1/2" overall, height at heel 1", 89 grams.
This blade shape with a clip point tip and parallel edge and spine with the oval 'saber' grip handle are quintessentially English, but here finely made in Solingen. Blade is thin and springy, from when hand grinding was done by very skilled workers.
